Miss New Bedford 2010, Ashley Hebert, is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Brandeis University, currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Education from Boston University.

A Special Education teacher at Revere High School, Ashley has been chosen to serve in Teach For America’s first Greater Boston Corps. Teach For America recruits outstanding recent college graduates from all backgrounds and career interests to commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools in an effort to end educational inequity.

Ashley also serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Service Alliance, an independent nonprofit organization that serves as the Commonwealth’s commission on community service and volunteering.

Ashley has extensive experience in education policy and research, having interned at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and completing an Honors thesis at Brandeis about student empowerment opportunities. She has also served as a legislative intern at the Massachusetts State House, working with Representative Carl Sciortino and others on MCAS reform legislation.

Ashley has concentrated her year of service on promoting literacy in the Greater New Bedford community. She is looking forward to working with our schools, families, community members, local organizations, and young people in this endeavor.
